Day seven: How you came across Tumblr, and how your life has changed since joining
It started off at Cardboardlove.com I really wanted to know who the creator was writing so many lovely things to. That’s how I came across Maria who had a Tumblr. She writes and posts over at Blissed. I’ve used other Blogging type websites (i.e. Blogger, Livejournal, etc) but those were too “complicated” for me and didn’t want to take the time to code layout and figure out how to use the sites. Tumblr was nice because it was easy to use and I love the “reblogging” feature. You also get an easier update on the blogs you follow.
I guess Tumblr has had some form of influence in my life. It’s a way to express myself and let others know more about me and let me vent about occurrences in my life because I can express my thoughts and feelings ten times better in writing.
The first four I am going to talk about are the girls I’ve deemed the Fab 4 (including myself). We all met in a 9th grade World History class. Oddly enough when we first were “introduced”, we all had different ideas of one another. I was the preppy jock, Samie was the crazy anime girl, Caitlin was the goth, and Melissa was the religious goody-two shoes. Now, I’m not entirely sure how we got around our initial reactions to one another, but I’m guessing it was by talking to one another and realizing that, we weren’t so different from each other despite our appearances. We all were in the CFPA program at our HS (Center for the Fine and Performing Arts) so we got to attend a lot of events for one another. Even though we’re away at different colleges around Virginia, except Mel, who went off to Florida >.>, we all make time to hang out over breaks. I tend to headline the e-mails that get sent out about figuring out what to do this time around, as we normally go out to eat somewhere and gab about how crazy our lives have been since we last met or what boy drama we’ve encountered. It’s lovely and I really hope we continue to keep in touch since, whenever I end up getting married, I want them to all be my bridesmaids. They can all Mortal Kombat for my maid of honor though~
Autumn, this girl is pretty special. We met in HS as well in an art class since she transferred into the CFPA in the 10th grade. We hit it off pretty good and even ended up going to the same college and rooming with one another. Not saying that was the best of ideas at the time, since when people say “do not room with your best/ close friends” you REALLY should listen. We had a bit of a falling out due to that, but she’s had my back for the most part in situations and I could call her up out of the blue just to get some advice. You will also be one of my brides maids, so get ready for some Mortal Kombat.
Megan, even though we’ve only known each other for like a year, maybe two? I still consider you to be a pretty good friend. From working with you at Glory Days, to helping you around at ODU, it’s been fun. We can act stupid together and you can try to vicariously live your love life through mine as I went through that short dating phase. Haha.
Most people, if they’re girls, have pretty much really close “girl” friends, but I have a few guys that I want to talk about.
Brent, or Brother as it may seem. How long have I known you? Forever…but that’s not the point. I can’t say I really remember how we met, but I can say that we had some really great times in HS and even outside it. It was really sad that you had to move to Hawaii (though I’m still a tad bit jealous). I just really hope that we continue to stay close and try to hang out when you’re in the area. You really are like a brother to me.
Mike is someone I met recently at ODU my freshman year. I was doing laundry with Autumn and he had come in to use the washers as well. I planned on chilling up there doing my homework while my clothes were washing since I don’t want someone going and touching my things once they’re out before I could get to them (cause I can say I’ve done it). He must have had the same idea and thus came the awkward silence. I thought it was weird to just be sitting in a room not talking to someone else just sitting there and struck up a conversation. Learned he was from around the same area I was, but went to a rival HS. He knew my friend Mel, who had to transfer there since it was closer to where she lived instead of commuting. From then on, I referred to him as “laundry boy” and found out we were on the same hall in the same dorm. Ever since then, we’ve hung out. We will always be the trouble-makers, him and I.
Lastly, but definitely not least, Chris. I’ve known you since before elementary school and we’ve had our bits of “falling-out”, though I feel we can’t call it that since we just ended up going to different middle schools and didn’t have a way to communicate with one another. Too bad Facebook wasn’t something we knew about or even Myspace. I’ve come to realize that he’s had my back in most situations as well, even though he’s never shown it fully. We’ve also fallen into that category of “puppy love” when we were kids. I’ll never forget how much I liked him for liking Star Wars. He’s probably been my longest friendship ever.
I’m a tad confused… Where did you all come from? Haha, not that it’s a bad thing, it was just super surprising when you go from 129 to 137 in a few minutes. It’d be super cool if you wrote me how you came across my blog in my ask~ ;)
